A large milling machine is delivered to Lirangwe. Several men move the machine into the building.

“Greetings from the Community of Lirangwe in Malawi. We send you joy, greetings and gratitude from our community,” Fr. James Mwamba wrote in his recent letter to the Comboni Missionaries Mission Office.

Last year — thanks to the generosity of our donors and the Empowerment Fund at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Cincinnati, Ohio — the Lirangwe Parish was able to purchase some much needed milling equipment.

The funds were used to purchase a Hammer Mill, an Oil Spiller, and a Rice Miller. Some of the funds were also used to construct a building to house the new machines.

Now the vulnerable women of Lirangwe no longer have to make a long, arduous journey carrying heavy loads to prepare grain and rice for consumption and sale.

In his request for funds Fr. James wrote that “the three machines will be the projects that will set a tone of help to the women here who are vulnerable to the poor conditions of life.”

We offer our sincerest thanks for all of our friends and benefactors who make projects like this possible, through prayers and donations.
