Every year, the Comboni Missionaries North American Province support several “Small Mission Projects.” Often times, these projects are anything but ‘small.’

In Eritrea, the Dekemhare high school seminary run by the Comboni Missionaries needed support. The global crisis and rising costs were making it difficult for the school administration to provide healthy meals and much needed academic classes.

Comboni Missionary Fr. Bahta Uqbaghiorghis reached out for assistance.

“In spite of the hard time that we were facing due to the global crisis in general, and the conflict that is going on for long time in our region in particular, we managed to go on with our daily life,” Fr. Bahta wrote.

Because of the generosity of our donors, we were able to support this ‘small mission project’ which provided the boys with nutritious food, medical assistance, academics support, and sporting activities.

“There were extra lesson-assistance and other activities to promote their mental and healthy quality. It is with great pleasure that we thank you for the support,” Fr. Bahta added.

Twenty young men and teachers were supported through this project. We are happy to report that two of the high school seminarians have entered postulancy and are continuing their studies in Asmara.

Thank you for your continued support of our missionaries.
