The Comboni Missionaries in Cincinnati will host a special memorial Mass for Fr. Sergio Contran who passed away on March 25, 2017. The Mass begins at 7 p.m. at the Comboni Mission Center, 1318 Nagel Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45255.
1923-2017
Born in Verona, Italy on March 25, Fr. Contran was one of five children. He was a devout Catholic and was ordained a Comboni Missionary Priest in 1950. He spent his missionaries in communities throughout the North American Province serving in mission promotion, pastoral care, and more.
By 2011 Fr. Contran was in Covina, California, still involved in mission activities, when it was decided that he would retire in Italy, where the Comboni Missionaries are better equipped to take care of the elderly confreres. He spent his remaining years in increasingly failing health and died peacefully on March 25, 2017.
Fr. Contran is remembered as a man of great faith and missionary zeal, a peacemakers and a wise administrator endowed with an endearing sense of humor. He is survived by a younger brother, Fr. Nazzareno (Neno), also a Comboni Missionary.
