Long Time Comboni League Member Passes

jackcovinaJack Skahill and his wife have been Comboni Missionary League members since the late 1990’s. They would come to Mass each morning at seven and he would read on Wednesday mornings. He and Arlene would then stay for coffee and the ritual morning chat with the priests and fellow worshippers nibbling on homemade cakes. Jack always had a story to tell and his sparkling light blue eyes would twinkle as he smiled and laughed when he finished his tale.

Jack Skahill died at home on June 20th with his family by his side and his worn rosary in hand. Jack was a deeply spiritual man, a loving husband and a father of seven. He had no interest in computers or cell phones and led a simple life devoted to his family, his dear wife Arlene, the church and his garden. I can still see Jack with a handful of fresh cut flowers wrapped in a paper towel or piece of newspaper which he would carefully set out for Our Lady in the chapel. His unexpected passing has left a void in our hearts.
